Insert Broken View¶
In one sentence: Creates a view of a long object with the middle section visually removed, so it fits on the page at a readable scale while dimensions still report the full length.
Overview¶
Workbench: TechDraw
Menu: TechDraw → Views → Insert Broken View
Long slender parts (shafts, bars, extrusions, beams) often cannot be shown at full scale without reducing the scale so much that detail is lost. A broken view removes a uniform middle section and brings the two ends together.
When to use it¶
- Long slender parts where the majority of the length is uniform.
- Fitting a long part onto a standard paper size without sacrificing detail at the ends.
Step-by-step¶
- Insert a standard Insert View of the object first.
- Select that view on the page.
- Choose TechDraw → Views → Insert Broken View.
- In the task panel, drag the break lines to the desired positions.
- Choose the break line style (zigzag, straight, or S-curve).
- Click OK.
The break indicators appear on the view, and the rendered gap is removed. Dimensions on the broken view still display the full model length.
